WBT
Manager Mounting Serious Challenge To SABA And Docent
In UK LMS Market
A breakthrough low-cost, easy-to-use and scalable Learning
Management System (LMS) developed by Integrity e-Learning
in the US is mounting a serious challenge to the heavyweight
names in the e-learning sector in the UK such as SABA
and Docent.
WBT Manager has already won over Huthwaite International
from SABA, added Transco to its rapidly expanding client
list and has been endorsed by one of Europe's foremost
producers of bespoke e-learning solutions, ebc.
Distributed in the UK by the Cheshire based FeeNix
Consultancy, WBT Manager's success story has been as
a result of three unique selling points -
- · Affordability - the price tag can be as
little as one tenth of the SABA product
- · Simplicity - here is a learning management
system so simple it doesn't have to be learned
- · Scalability - the system can be proved
in a small pilot before rolling out to the whole organisation
Huthwaite International, whose clients include such
household names as IBM, Oracle and PricewaterhouseCoopers,
was one of the first companies in the UK to realise
the potential for WBT Manager.
"We chose our first learning management system,
SABA, because we were very impressed with the available
functionality," says Rob Taylor, Huthwaite International's
Technology Enabled Solutions Manager. "However,
the reality was we ended up using only a small percentage
of the available functionality.
"In our search for an alternative, we found that
WBT Manager exactly matched our requirements.
We simply wanted to deliver e-learning - and that's
what WBT Manager does really well.
"Whereas price was obviously an issue - and WBT
Manager does represent very good value for money
- we were more concerned that we should only be paying
for the functionality we used.
"Strangely enough, the only worry we had at first
was that we couldn't find anything wrong with the software.
It is very easy to use thanks to an interface that is
extremely intuitive. So easy in fact that my PA, Amanda,
acting as the main administrator when we were evaluating
WBT Manager against SABA managed to replicate
all our requirements with very few references to the
user manual or demo."
Similar sentiments were echoed by the team at ebc
whose clients include DaimlerChrysler, PricewaterhouseCoopers,
Asda Stores and the NHS Executive.
"WBT Manager is ideal for companies wishing
to undertake Web based training," insists Chris
Mayer, ebc's Software Engineering Director. "It's
a simple and cost effective solution - and that's why
our customers like it.
"It is also a favourite with our programmers because
it is so easy to get into. So much so that they describe
it as 'a refreshing change'".
Director of e-learning at FeeNix Consultancy, Fiona
Leteney believes that WBT Manager will effectively kick
start the sector which, in the wake of the dotcom fall-out,
has yet to achieve anywhere near its full potential.
"We believe that WBT Manager will achieve
a significant breakthrough for e-learning because at
a stroke it solves the three issues which have shackled
the sector to date - cost, ease of use and starting
off small," says Fiona Leteney.
